Lunch and Learn: Mental Health

During our first "Lunch and Learn", we focused on the topic of mental health and how our DNA can affect different medications to treat depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.

April Dupree, owner of Butterfly Counseling and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, also joined the event. She shared some anxiety and coping strategies that you can use while at home, at work, and even in the car.

If you weren't able to attend the live Zoom, you can watch the recording here.

Dr. Turner Presents in Nevada

A large part of Tarheel PGx Consulting is providing education about how a patient's medications can be affected by changes in their DNA (pharmacogenomics/PGx).

It's important to not only educate people about how PGx can help them if they are struggling to find the right medication to help with their condition but it's also important to teach healthcare professionals. We want pharmacists, nurses, and doctors to be aware of this technology and how it can help cut down on the trial-and-error prescribing.

Thank you to the Nevada Pharmacy Alliance and the Nevada Society of Health-System Pharmacists for the opportunity to come to Renown Health and teach pharmacists about pharmacogenomics and how it can help their patients.
